Before Photo
This roof was over 20 years old and had missing shingles.
After Photo: New Klaus Larsen Roofing System and Skylight
We first replaced any damaged plywood and renailed the existing decking with Ring Shank Nails, a higher quality nail that is a cross between a nail and a screw and won't come out in high winds. We then laid down our Klaus Laresn Roofing SealoronXT Ice & Water self-sealing membrane to create a moisture barrier between the decking and the shingles. We also added 100 extra feet of Ice & Water for the lower slope roof on left rear of house. For even more protection, we installed our own Velora One Underlayment, a high performance synthetic underlayment designed to protect the home in even the most severe weather. We also took the extra step to protect the home by taping the the plywood steams with our all-weather SealoronXT Deck Tape. It's the Klaus Roofing Way! To top it off, for new asphalt shingles, we installed IKO Dynasty Architectural Shingles featuring a 1-1/4" nailing area made with a tough reinforcing woven band for incredible nail-holding power to protect the home against Mother Nature's fury. The homeowner choose the shingle color Granite Black for their new roof. We also replaced the skylight with a brand new Velux skylight with Laminated, Low-E, "Clean, Safe, Quiet" glass with Velux factory flashing kit and solar-powered blinds. It's ideal to install brand new skylights at the same time as a new roof install as it's very difficult to re-flash an existing skylight.
